Imagine…
- Wearing those short shorts without worrying about exposing those ugly spider leg veins.
- Not having to apply your extra make-up to cover those tiny red vessels on your cheeks and nose.
- Wearing sandals without exposing a sea of purple veins around the ankle.…
The Excel Laser can do this & more!
How does Laser Vein Therapy work?
The Cutera Excel system delivers pulses of light energy that is attracted to the pigment of the blood in the vein. This light energy is converted to heat energy that coagulates the blood and destroys the vessel. Over the next few weeks the treated vein is absorbed by the body and disappears. Blood flow continues through the deeper normal veins.
How many treatments are needed?
Most often one treatment is all that is necessary but at times 2 or 3 may be necessary to completely get rid of the veins. This depends on the vein size and concentration of the vessels.
Do the treatments hurt?
As the laser is fired there is stinging sensation likened to a rubber band snap that quickly disappears. The treated area is immediately cooled with the cooling device on the laser handpiece. No post-treatment discomfort is experienced. Topical anesthetic can be applied if desired but this is rarely needed.
What are the possible side effects?
Typically immediately after treatment there is a hive effect along the course of the treated vein. In the next few days after treatment the veins will look worse before getting better; over the next few weeks the vein disappears as the body absorbs the treated vessels. There may also rarely be bruising and occasional blistering. The blistering, if it occurs, heals with topical antibiotic ointment without leaving a scar. Iron in the red blood cells from larger vessels may cause brown staining of the skin; this is absorbed over time also.
When will I see results?
Noticeable improvement begins within a week of treatment; total effect may take up to 6 weeks depending on the size of the vessels treated.
Is the effect permanent?
The treated vessels are permanently destroyed; they will never return. It is possible, however, that new veins may appear. These can also be treated with Excel laser therapy.
